A Visit to ISRO
I visited ISRO earlier this month. I am not sure about whether I can reveal much of that trip but I can tell you everything that happened around the event.
I made this trip to try and help in putting together ASI (that's Astronautical Society of India) Student Chapter.
Initially the trip was supposed to be an all expenses paid trip but we ended up paying all the expenses. No problems as long as we get the thing done.
I arrived a night earlier and slept in the ISAC Dormitory. Not a great place but good enough for a tired soul to rest. Since the guest house canteen shut at 9 pm, I had to help myself to dinner just outside ISAC. After nearly 6 hours of sleep I got up in the morning and caught up with Anbarasan, Ravi Verman, Nagappan and Vinothini. These were while I was still inside. Breakfast at 8, lunch at an outside food court and dinner at 8 in the night was the food schedule.
Our first day of visit was to the ISRO Space Applications Center. Amrut and Nagashree were to join us there.Since the meeting was in the afternoon we spent the morning putting together a list of events that the newly formed body could perform. Not a very easy task!!
After our first day of visit we were requested to stay back one more day to meet a few people at ISRO Headquarters. Cancelling tickets and re-booking, we worked on events for the IAC and a few more event ideas for the ASI Students Chapter.
Before leaving we decided on a website, a MoU and a set of bye-laws to get us started.
The return trip was more of an adventure and I think deserves a full post =).
