Galaxy Zoo - a project to harness the capability of the human brain to catalog galaxies
Read this over at Chris Lintott's blog:
I thought you might want to be the first to see my new research project. We need your help!
And, even more at the project website:
The simple answer is that the human brain is much better at recognising patterns than a computer can even be. Any computer program we write to sort our galaxies into catagories would do a reasonable job, but it would also inevitably throw out the unusual, the weird and the wonderful. To rescue these interesting systems which have a story to tell, we need you.
Galaxy Zoo wil be live very soon but in the meantime if you would like to Sign Up to take part in the project, please complete the adjacent form.
I have signed up for this project. Let's see what's next.
