NCESSE Programs: Voyage and Journey Through the Universe

Stacy Hamel, of the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE), recently sent an email to one of the @seds.org addresses about a community education program that is organized by the group. It is called Journey Through the Universe; link: www.journeythroughtheuniverse.org. There's a lot of information there, and it's hard to wrap my arms around all of it, but it looks like a comprehensive program that involves the use of space science in K-12 curriculum. It doesn't look like an in-and-out outreach program, but something tailored to school district education needs.

In any case, I haven't figured out exactly where to file it in the wiki/blog/forums mélange, so I'll post it here.

The other prominent program she noted was Voyage; link: www.voyagesolarsystem.org. The program is based on establishing scale models of the solar system in communities, and developing a science education program that can utilize it. This seems like an Eagle Scout project waiting to happen.

If you read this and either seem interesting, have a look at the web sites. Stacy's contact information is readily available on both, and she has been quite nice to talk to.

And, for any of you that use SEDSWiki, where is a good place to organize these links so that the information could be retrieved again?

Have added those here -> Space information Archive > References > Learning Resources : http://wiki.seds.org/index.php/Learning_Resources

I might change that a little, Pradeep. I intended the references as things you could cite when writing a paper -- journals, books, etc. Something makes me think that it doesn't really fit as a reference.

I'm flexible; that was my intention, but it can change.

Also: using categories will help, since the wiki doesn't rely on a strict hierarchy to store information.
