Why I like using the SEDS server...

I like to add content to seds.org for a number of reasons: I'm an alumnus; I hear a lot about programs for students; and ulimately, the seds.org address gets great placement in search engines, so there is a higher incidence of students finding the information that I post, which I consider to be a better return on my time investment.
On Friday 26 October, I posted information about Cosmology@Home on a few places on the server:
- SEDSWiki: http://wiki.seds.org/index.php/CosmologyAtHome
- SEDS Blogs, Road Trip to Space: http://blogs.seds.org/roadtriptospace/entry/cosmology_home
- SEDS Blogs, SEDSWiki Updates: http://blogs.seds.org/sedswiki/entry/seds_cosmology_home_team
- SEDS Forums: http://forums.seds.org/showthread.php?t=2500
On Saturday 27 October, I noticed the search engine spiders crawling over the forum post. The following is how Google placed seds.org assets when given the search "Cosmology@Home" --
- Sunday 28 October: SEDS Forums C@H thread placed at #130 in Google
- Monday 29 October: SEDS Forums C@H thread placed at #109 in Google
- Tuesday 30 October, 08:30:
- Cosmology@Home and SETI@Home forum placed at #12 in Google
- SEDS Forums C@H thread placed at #13 in Google
- SEDSWiki Updates blog post placed at #61 in Google
- SEDSWiki front page (with link to SEDSWiki updates) placed at #62 in Google
Not too bad.
