SEDS International Conference 2007 - A Report
The SEDS Chapter at the Vellore Institute of Technology (SEDS-VITU) successfully organized the SEDS International Conference 2007 (SEDSIC '07). There were about 400 people attending the conference including foriegn delegates and participants. There were speakers from well known institutions from India like the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and international speakers from University Space Engineering Consortium (UNISEC) and Nihon University, Japan. It was also the venue of the review of the SEDSat-2 project as well as the National Chapters Review.
The SEDSat-2 review was amongst the members of the SEDSat-2 team in the presence of the team members of the SEDS-VIT cubesat team and some interested international members. The review discussed the criteria for the addition of new members, information dissemination and the introduction of management practises to improve efficiency besides the technical review of each sub-system made by the present sub-system team leads.
The SEDS National Chapters Review was attended by SEDS chapters from Afghanistan, Austria, India, Nepal, Philippines and the United States. The Review also discussed the role played by SEDS-Earth and considered ways of improving inter-Chapter communications and exchange of resources among national chapters to complement each others strengths.
This was besides the events and competitions organized for school and college students and the OneSpace School Students Outreach Programme.
There was also a Star Party with second tier events like songs, tattoo painting and alien drawing.
